Episode 011 Shary Folkmann: Finding Joy Through Food Freedom
In this episode we sit down with....
Shary Folkmann. Writer and Dancer.
A writer and a dancer, Shary loves finding the rhythm in a sentence or a step. She started performing with a small tap dance troupe when she was a child, and later danced in community theater productions and with the University Dance Theatre Ensemble at the University of Houston where she earned a BA in French Language and Literature. After a year spent teaching English in France, she worked in a variety of spheres from public education to corporate and nonprofit administration. Now a dancer with California Rhythm Project, she also serves as the company’s general manager, and she is a freelance copywriter for a few small businesses. She most enjoys writing about creative people and the work that energizes them.
What we talk about:
Not fitting the “typical dancer” mold and the comparison that came along with that
Self awareness of joy at a young age
Story of her college sweetheart turned husband and their journey of deciding to not have children
