This Power Smoothie Will Transform Your Work Day
If most of your days are busy like me, lunch can be quite the struggle.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten to 3 PM without even realizing the time.
And then you’re either starving, or you eat your salad and “treat yourself” later at home on the couch.... because whoa you have all of these extra numbers for the day that you can play around with + you’re stressed and exhausted and you’ve been waiting to watch the next 2 episodes of your Netflix show and…you know what I mean.
One of the biggest tips that I can give you busy girls is to arm yourself with a nutrient dense smoothie when you’ve got a day packed full of meetings.
Is this ideal?
Nope- taking at least 10-15 minute to mindfully eat your meal without distractions is what we’re striving for. But life is chaotic and unexpected. So having your meal to go vs. going without one is always a better alternative.
What this looks like:
Your standard smoothie recipe with a few other additions- possibly an extra scoop of protein powder, 1/2 avocado, handful of nuts, hemp hearts, TBSP nut butter, chia seeds, flax seeds etc.
This is what mine looks like-
1/2 bag organic frozen spinach
1 C frozen cauliflower rice
1/4 C mixed berries
1/2 – 1 full avocado
1-2 scoops Sunwarrior chocolate protein powder
1 Tbsp acacia fiber
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1” knob of fresh ginger
Sprinkle of cinnamon + turmeric
Filtered water or almond milk
So I get it- this is a lot in a blender. I serve it up in 2 large cups to go, but you do what works for you!
The most important piece is maintaining a good amount of quality protein + healthy fat + greens.
This keeps you blood sugar balanced so that you can stay full AND focused without crazy craving or daydreams of the couch binge you were planning later ;)
And P.S. the “couch binge”- girl I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been there.
Particularly when I was really deep into my battle with bulimia. If find yourself having a little food fest at night it doesn’t mean you should beat yourself up and it doesn’t necessarily mean you have disorder eating.
FOOD IS EMOTIONAL.
Sometimes we just want to eat and others , it’s our body letting us know it didn’t receive all of the nutrients it needed in a day.
I still find myself binging at night from time to time...my husband loves to call me out ;)
But I’ve found that moving forward, tuning into what’s really going on and giving myself some love is the best way to handle these times.
Tomorrow’s a new day and now you have a new lunch option!
