My Good Guide to LA- 2 Days of Wellness + Play
We took off on a little getaway to La La Land this past weekend. Paul and I are usually pretty adventurous, but when you give us a fun city and a time limit, we get all giddy with the challenge and get down to business This was 2 full days of checking off bucket list items and spontaneous exploration.
The Sunday afternoon drive back to San Diego was brimming with fresh memories and happy bellies- did we eat some deliiiicious food. Check out some of my favorite finds from our trip below...
Lot's of love + healthy vibes,
Moon Juice: what a charming little shop! After hearing multiple podcast interviews with the CEO and the wellness community buzz over this nourishing adaptogenic product line, I had high anticipation for visiting myself. The actual experience completely exceeded my expectation. Their store was cozy and filled with bright natural light. The friendly staff and feminine product names made me feel like I was at a grown-up tea party. I ordered the beauty dust matcha latte and executed full restraint from purchasing everything in the store...except an adorable canvas tote as a souvenir for $5.
Abbot Kinney Boulevard: Located just a few blocks East of the Venice Beach Boardwalk this street is perfectly curated with natural beauty stores, funky restaurants, and trendy boutiques. Far out of my price range but PLENTY of people watching and free inspiration from the sidewalk to the shops. We stopped for some seriously mouth-watering plant-based ice cream at Pressed Juicery...and then again at Salt and Straw...#vacation.
Malibu Farm: We’ll be back for this. Even though we didn’t get to eat at this Malibu gem, I have no doubt it’s amazing. At 3:00 in the afternoon the line was STILL wrapped around the block and I’m not surprised at all after snooping at the plates as we strolled by. This farm to table restaurant is set up on the Malibu Pier and resembles a chic Anthropologie installation. Brunch over the Pacific Ocean while munching on heart-shaped avocado toast? This place is a dream.
Gracias Madre: Another coveted restaurant that I’ve longed to dine at for years. My obsession with Mexican food, plant-based cuisine, and Instagramable ambiance all came together at Sunday brunch. We nestled into a cozy outdoor booth and browsed through the menu about 10 times before making our decision. I have no doubt that anything you order at this little slice of heaven would be utterly delicious, but we opted for splitting the caesar salad, guacamole (if you judge a restaurant by their chip quality like me, this one is an A+), butternut squash & cashew cheese quesadilla, chimichanga and doughy pumpkin scone that was perfectly paired with coconut cashew cream + homemade strawberry jam. If there ever was a “last meal” vacation-style this one certainly took the cake....which we were far too satisfied to order.
