How to Recover from a Candy Binge
If you feel the Easter holiday slowly spiraling into a food coma, you're not alone.
I remember saving up for this day.
Mindlessly binging through bags of chocolate peanut butter eggs.
Strategically stuffing myself at our big family gathering and either going to bed with a swollen belly...or just getting rid of it in the bathroom.
If you're in this boat or feel your mind starting to obsess over all of the new candy stashed away in your kitchen for the week ahead, consider trying these tips...
Remove the candy (or leftover treats) from your house.
This might require some honest reflection or vulnerable conversation with your partner/roommate, but it's key for preventing future binges, guilt, and self-sabotage as you heal your relationship with food.
Get back to basics :)
Don't let this one single day drag down the entire week ahead. Start your next morning with a nutrient-rich smoothie and some ginger tea to soothe the tummy (literally just slice up fresh ginger in boiling water). Support your body with at least 64 oz of water through the day and see if you can eat some lighter foods that are easier on digestion- soups, salads, oatmeal :)
Make a list!
Sometimes simply writing out what you're grateful for and everything that you're excited about for the week ahead can be the most powerful way to shift your mindset. Rather than focusing on body shaming and a guilty conscious, what are you smiling about for the days ahead?
